About Jas Parker
Jas Parker ( Born in Inglewood, CA in 1984) is currently a practicing
Los Angeles based conceptual artist, poet, and photographer.
Working interdisciplinary in acrylic, charcoal, mixed media, textiles, performance/video, and creative writing.
To creatively express and explore the connections between her personal experience and creative process. Often times through resilience, empowerment and reflective awareness of one self . After facing several losses and becoming homeless with her daughters in 2017, Jas made the decision to go back to school, study art and follow her dreams, visually speaking her truth through visual arts and storytelling.
Jas explores themes of black culture, race, gender, identity, and social injustices, creatively working through portraiture and abstraction while advocating for many social issues. Furthermore, by displaying the everyday “Black Experience” through visual arts, education, poetry, photography, and performance. Parker recently graduated with Honors from California State University of Los Angeles in 2021, and was featured that same year in the Ronald H. Silverman Student Senior Exhibition at CSULA. Parker continues exhibit her artworks and teach as an art educator in communities where art can be accessible to everyone.
